Many thanks to Eileen and Carolyn for joining me on the 12 mile sponsored cycle ride from Bridgnorth to Ironbridge and back in aid of The Severn Hospice. Thanks also to family and friends for sponsorship.
After chasing around Bridgnorth to find each other, we arrived at the registration desk where we had to tag our bicycles with a number and have the same number written on our hands! We were told that this was in the event of a 'pile up' we could be identified with our bicycles!! Not daunted by this, we had our photograph taken and set off! It was a lovely gentle ride, all off road, flat, and not too busy. Coffee in Ironbridge then the return journey. I am really enjoying the Sunday cycling - happy for anyone to join me!

Another Sunday ride 20 March 2011
It all started with a flat tyre, a broken pump and the rain! A ride out with Mark and Graham had a bad start but turned into a lovely 20 mile ride through the lovely Shropshire countryside. We cycled through villages and hamlets, passing through Plealey, Pontesbury (nice downhill bit!) then found ourselves, quite by accident, in Westbury! Lovely way to start a Sunday

Be gentle with me boys!

After a gentle ride last week, I decided to take up the invitation from long standing friends Graham and Neil for a leisurely Sunday morning cycle. I presented myself as instructed, expecting a gentle ride. It was an absolutely glorious spring day so we decided to cycle the 10 miles to a lovely pub (it was closed) by the river. This is a ride I have done many times but not quite the route we did today! Neil decided that he knew a track which would be nice to cycle - OK for him on his mountain bike! Not so OK for me on my road bike! My bicycle and I got covered in mud as we went through a farm, a field and finally a track! We passed 4 pubs, all closed, before arriving at the renowned Dinky's Diner for a mug of good strong tea! A lovely ride of exactly 23 miles. Both bicycle and I needed a good wash afterwards but I really enjoyed the company even if I was always bringing up the rear!

Back in the saddle- Sunday 6 March 2011
After a break of some six months, I decided that it was time to get back on my bicycle! Having transported it from Lancashire to Shropshire (on the back of my car), it was the first time out on the Shropshire tarmac. A spur of the moment decision to go out, and having under-estimated the outside temperature, I set off to nowhere in particular and got home some 10 miles later. My knees both stood up well and I am really enthusiastic about possible future rides.
